Historic Home 1st Floor

The Front Parlor
Finished in mahogany, this spacious room was a favorite for family members to gather after a busy day. During Victorian times, children were required to learn the cultural arts from their mother or grandmother one to two hours a day. These would include reading , music, sewing, and proper etiquette. The parlor was also a room used to greet guests to the home, serving light refreshments and hearing the latest community news.

The Sitting Room
On the east side of the Great Hall the sitting room is located. Birch woodwork gives the room a light, airy feeling allowing the women to gather after dinner and discuss the latest gossip.
